Minister of Digital Economy: 2021 is Jordan's year of entrepreneurship

Amman, July 13 (Petra) -- Based on the increasing number of Jordanian entrepreneurial companies, business incubators and startup accelerators, 2021 will be Jordan's year of entrepreneurship, said minister of digital economy and entrepreneurship, Ahmad Hanandeh.

In a statement on Tuesday by the Information Technology Association of Jordan (Intaj), Hanandeh stressed that COVID-19 has sped up digital transformation, making it a critical component to maintain public health and business continuity, along with achieving social and economic stability.

"Technical solutions in various sectors played an important role in responding to the pandemic, as the government managed to develop digital platforms and provide electronic services to maintain all aspects of life and support business sustainability," he added.

Hanandeh pointed to the ministry's support to the "TechAID" national initiative, which aims at proposing, building and implementing creative technological solutions to problems arising from COVID-19 and its effects on the various economic and social verticals that would help the startup ecosystem in Jordan and in the region.
